ABOUT
To be honest, The Roadhouse was a pet project of Jo Harvelle for a while now. Turns out Asgard left this hunter with a lot of free time. And what better to do with free time than build a bar? It took some time, had to find a building to gutt out, and the she rebuilt it. Living with the Winchesters meant that she didn't have to worry too much about rent (she's not bumming, she paid. It just wasn't as much as if she tried to live on her own) which meant she had enough saved up for the renovations. Plus with a little help from the bank...well. You get the idea. And now, much much later, it's finally done and ready for attendees.
She rebuilt it to mimic her mom's bar, Harvelle's Roadhouse, from before it was blown to smithereens in an unfortunate angel incident. A bit changed due to Jo's personal taste and just a lack of materials in Asgard, but Jo tried her best to get it as close as possible.
The Roadhouse is primarily a bar, which means alcohol, alcohol and more alcohol, but Jo put in a kitchen in the back and has no problem with serving food if they can find a cook. Until that point, it's simple food and snacks, and drinks.
If you'd like to work at The Roadhouse, contact Jo directly here. She manages everything when it comes to the bar - having grown up doing exactly this back home - so if you have any questions, suggestions, or comments, take them to her. I'd be polite, though, since she won't take shit from anyone.
THE ROADHOUSE
The lay-out to The Roadhouse is divided into three sections. The main floor made up of the main landing and a second, slightly higher, one; the kitchens and back areas, and the storage rooms.
When you walk in the front door, it opens up onto the main floor (a little larger than in the picture). Along the right wall is a large U shaped bar that can sit, when squeezed, around ten people. In the middle of the main floor is a wooden dance floor, rarely used but there nonetheless. There are various tables and chairs set up around the main floor, and along the far back wall a few booths. To the left and up three steps is the second landing which has two pool tables, dart boards, and a shuffle board along the wall. Ash tends to sleep on the pool tables, so watch out for that. There's an old-fashioned juke box with a lot of 70s and 80s rock and country music, along the wall next to the booths and a few arcade games. One in particular is a shooting game, to which Jo holds all the high scores. In three of the four corners Jo's set up small televisions, but because of a lack of any widespread network, she mostly uses them for the karaoke machine, some old recorded VHSes of shows and concerts she found in the Library, and DVDs if anyone has them. There's are two bathrooms connected to the second floor in the back left corner, behind the pool tables.
The kitchens and back rooms are used only by employees and those closest to Jo. She's not an amazing cook, so unless they get some to come around, the kitchens are rarely used. Mostly for washing dishes, microwaving food, and maybe the ovens for a few simple dishes. There is also a giant freezer and fridge for drinks and food. It's packed with all the necessary items, though, in case a chef does come around. There's an office that Jo set up even though she does use (Ash has mostly taken over that one), a storage closet for various items, and a private bedroom and bathroom that she added in just in case. Connected to the outside of the house is another, much larger, storage room where she keeps non-perishable items, extra chairs, and anything else that doesn't fit on the main floor.
Jo made the executive decision to make the bar almost twice the size of her mother's, with more room to sit and eat and not be crowded. So take into account that with the reference pictures, you need to double the size. She's also cleaned up a little bit, so quality-wise the tables and chairs are a little nicer. She tried to keep with the feel as much as she could, though.
HOURS
Basically whenever Jo decides she wants it open, and since there's no real calendar that she keeps up with around Asgard she keeps to what would have been a fairly basic schedule.
Three Days (Tuesday-Thursday): mid-afternoon (3 p.m.) to late night (2 a.m.)
Two Days (Friday-Sunday): mid-afternoon (3 p.m.) to late late night (4 a.m.)
One Day (Monday): closed.
MENU
Drinks: Just about any alcohol you can image, with all the basic mixers. Also water, soda, and some juices.
Food: Think bar food. Burgers, fries, pizza, mozzarella sticks, mixed nuts, pretzels, popcorn, etc. Again, a more extended menu will be created when a chef is hired, but for now enjoy things that can either be microwaved or stuck in a fryer.
