There's a way of checking. Tyke said- Sam's communicator isn't responding. As long as he's present on the ship, that won't happen, and these devices are extremely difficult to break.
[considering some of the things he's been up to since his first arrival on the ship, the communicator has definitely been put through its paces. sam's isn't broken, and turning it off isn't enough to kill the signal completely. the only thing that is-]

[ as strange as it might be, she kind of picked up on something going on between Cas and Dean. Just a little bit of off that hadn't been there before. It probably had something to do with Cas being from down the line, but boy did it makes things complicated.
